I loves me some kitchen appliances, but I'm pretty shitty at actually using them. My goal this month is to use a different underutilized kitchen gadget (for cooking purposes).
I broke out my dusty, never used Crockpot[1], washed it, set it on a hopefully nonflammable counter and dumped crap in it.
Crap used:
- 2 sliced and chopped sweet potatoes.
- 1 can of black beans
- 1 can of condensed cream of chicken soup
- 1 can of water
- a bunch of minced garlic
Notes to myself: Next time, mix up the soup and water first, it is looking grizzly. Also, rinse black beans, as the last look was looking...grey and not so appetizing.
We will see if something edible comes to fruition.
When I actually go shopping and plan, I'd like to make:
Thai Tofu Veggie Curry
Chicken and Sweet Potato Stew
I think I'll dig up some side dish recipes, as I'm trying to eat my fruits and veggies, and anything that makes that part easier, I need help with.
[1] Yes, a Rival Crockpot, no generic slowcooker here! Just what was on sale at Target the week I got the slowcooker hair up my ass.

Sucka
So, I admit it, I'm a sucker for all the stupid facebook games. I can't keep up on reading everyone, but man, I can play Mafia Wars or whatever and just zen right out.
I think it's because I don't really play games like I used to, so this is to keep my hand in it, so I can still pretend I'm a gamer.

Go Read This!
My friend David has a blog dedicated to his drabble[1] writing. He has three separate 'story lines', I guess, zombie, SF and fantasy. I really enjoy all of them, and he's built some very interesting worlds using tantalizingly short snippets.
He's also published a book of them, called Flash, which you should totally buy RIGHT NOW.
[1] pieces of fiction that are exactly 100 words.

It's the blooming time
I love and hate spring. I love watching everything bloom. The blossoms out of the trees right now are just spectacular. The daffodils are giving lovely little flashes of yellow after a grim grey winter.
But I am clearly allergic to all this flora fucking going on.
So much pollen, so many boogers.

Most amazing sandwich ever
Last sunday, we went to Kildare's in Chapel Hill after a fabulous play The Jimmy performed in. Criminally underused IMO, but that's the curse of being too damn good.
But I had a sandwich that I think came straight down from Olympus. A lovely flatbread holding thin sliced granny smith apples, goat cheese and honey, hot pressed panini-style. So incredible I'm still going on and on about it. I think it's something to be added to my personal food repertoire.

Daily Blogging
So, I want to push myself to write something daily. Since this is the first one, and I really can't think of a thing to post, I'm gonna cheap out on it:
SOMETHING.
SOMETHING.
